I have enjoyed a brief hiatus from the reality of cancer and have felt well and healthy for a couple of weeks.
But today was the return to the crystal palace, cancerland, my soon to be home away from home, the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
Medical Oncology.
Chemotherapy, drug therapy. To tamoxifen or not. Lots o’ numbers about recurrance rates, study results and side effects.
The idea seems to be to use tamoxifen to wring every last molecule of estrogen from my already post-menopausally depleted body, since my tumor is estrogen positive – grows in the presence of estrogen.
I will become an official prune……Pruney. Sucked dry. No estrogen ANYWHERE in my body. And then there are the hot flashes, a big side effect of tamoxifen.
I miss my HRT. Even my medical oncologist said HRT was wonderful, except for that pesky cancer risk. EVEN MY MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST SAID THAT MY TIME ON HRT PROBABLY DIDN’T CAUSE MY CANCER.
Love the guy.
No Tamoxifen.
