Dr. Rosenkranz just called with the pathology report.
Surgical margins were clear at 1mm and the tumor was 1/2cm, Stage 0, Grade 2.5, Er+.
Got it?
It’s good news. I’m elated.
See what happens? You get told you have breast cancer and 4 weeks later you talk the pathology mumbojumbo that makes no sense to anyone else.
But that pathology report is what I’ve been waiting for since the surgery.
It means it’s over. No more surgery and on to radiation. The tumor was contained in the milk ducts, my surgeon got it all with room to spare.
Just breathe. Tonight I will just breathe, and be thankful for very small things.
……..oh and did I tell you that all I got out of it was a sore, swollen breast, all shades of black, blue, now yellow, glued together with what I swear is superglue, human grade?
When this is over, I’m taking my right breast on a long vacation to a warm place, bikini clad, drinks with little umbrellas in them, beaches. We’ll dance the night away under the palms, just me and my right breast.
