Stereotactic Breast Biopsy.
Imagine you are the car on the hydraulic lift and the radiologist is the mechanic, working from underneath. Only it’s your boob and a core biopsy needle.
It was like being in a Fellini film. Pretty pink, soft quilts on the wall, 5 totally competent women – radiologists (2), equipment rep (1- they were trying out a new biopsy needle that day, whee!), radiology techs (2) and enough equipment to send a woman to the moon. oh, and me. or should i say me and my breast.
Afterward, the bandages were overkill and I suddenly looked like a 34 DDDDD on the right side! Unfortunately my left side was still it’s usual 34 B. And the instructions were: “Keep this on for 24 hours, don’t take a shower, but feel free to go to work.”
Gotta love ‘em. There was no sweater in the world to hide THAT mismatch!
